Club History
The Lincoln Snipe Fleet is part of the Lincoln Sailing Club, which is located at Branched Oak Lake , about 30 minutes northwest of Lincoln , Nebraska . For more information on the Lincoln Sailing Club, click on the link below.
The Lincoln Snipe Fleet, chartered in 1963, is part of the Snipe Class International Racing Association (SCIRA). There are Snipe Fleets around the world, and SCIRA sponsors regattas at the local, national and international levels. For more information on SCIRA, click on the links below.
Our fleet averages about 25 Snipes, with 5 -15 boats competing in races each Sunday afternoon during the sailing season (April through October). We are also the home of the world famous Firewater Regatta, which typically attracts 20 to 40 Snipes from around the country in June of each year. Our fleet has members of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to seasoned veterans. New members are welcome! Beginners will get helpful instruction, while experienced sailors will find challenging and competitive racing.
Since the Snipe is a two-person boat, someone is always looking for a crew. Crewing on a Snipe is a great way to become familiar with the Lincoln Snipe Fleet and the sport of small sailboat racing.
